First day of work jitters…
This is just a quick post to say that tomorrow is the first day of my new job at the hospital. I will spend tomorrow and Tuesday in hospital-wide training sessions, so my first real day will be Wednesday, but I am starting to get nervous, as well as excited!
I have waited so many months to start this job, and since at times it has felt like it would never happen, I don’t really feel as prepared as I would like. I’m sure that I am actually prepared, but after waiting and waiting, it feels like all of a sudden my start date is here.
Although I have been starting to feel a bit more nervous, we have managed to have a very nice, relaxing, and productive weekend, involving some tasty food and drinks, starting to learn to drive a manual car on the wrong side of the car and road, running, meal planning and grocery shopping for the week, and taking care of some jobs around the house.
As a result of the weekend’s cooking, I have at least four recipes to share with you over the coming days, and I will also let you know how I like my first few days.
I am currently making have just finished eating a pot of soup for our dinner tonight (recipe to come) and also making made a big salad which will make my lunches easy, nutritious, and delicious for at least the first half of the week. After Wednesday, I may have a couple of days with peanut butter sandwiches, but we’ll see how things go.
My favorite salad is Angela‘s wheatberry and bean salad, and I love to put this in a container with a big scoop of hummus and a couple of pieces of pita bread for a lunch on the go. Here are a few pictures of the salad as it was being built.
This last picture still doesn’t include the wheatberries because they were still cooking, but I had to snap pictures quickly before the sun went down completely, but you can see what a gorgeous salad it is.
Okay, I’ll leave it at that for now because I am off to bed to try to get some sleep before a very early start tomorrow, but I will write again soon with an update!
Hope you have all had a nice weekend.

hope you have a great first day!
Thank you! One day down, one more training day to go.
Hope it went well – as for driving – remember its easy to drive in the rush hour – everyone has somewhere to go, its in the day and the weekends you need to be careful – old dears buggering around with nowhere to go. And as for manuals – dump it and get an automatic!
Haha, thank you! And good tips! I had never thought about it, but you’re probably right in terms of rush hour versus weekends.
