Feel Good Friday

February 3, 2012

It’s that time of the week again! Hello Friday. 🙂

This week has really flown by for me. We had such a nice time catching up with a few of my old housemates last weekend, and although I wasn’t feeling 100% on Sunday, we had a nice relaxing day. This week I have done a lot of cooking and blogging, which I love, and I got to spend an afternoon with a friend and her adorable baby boy, which was a treat!

Now…the featured items for this week’s edition of Feel Good Friday:

Song – ‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’ from the latest Coldplay album, Mylo Xyloto. I realize the name of the song makes it sound really sad, and I don’t actually know the meaning of the song, but the tune is very upbeat, and it is one of my very favorite songs at the moment. It definitely creates a Friday feeling for me. Thanks for introducing us to this album, Uncle Mark!

Book – I finished the fourth Harry Potter book this week, and although I know I am several years behind the trend here, I can’t say enough good things about it. I have just started reading the series in the past few months, and I have loved all of the books so far, but the last one was definitely my favorite (so far at least).

Now I can’t believe I waited so long to read these books. For all of the people out there who think, like me, that Harry Potter isn’t your sort of book, just read the first few chapters of the first book and see what you think. You have to keep reading further to discover the absolute brilliance of the stories and characters, but even in the first few chapters of the first book, it is clear what an incredible story-teller J. K. Rowling is, and no matter how much I tried to deny it, it was clear that I was going to enjoy reading the books as soon as I actually just tried the first one. So I realize that practically all of you could probably say, ‘I told you so’, but if you haven’t tried them yet, then I am telling you… Forget about what ‘your type of book’ is, and just borrow the first book from the library or a friend, and allow yourself to enjoy and get lost in the amazing stories. I am so glad I finally did, and I can’t wait to read the next one!

Picture of the week – In honor of the Super Bowl coming up on Sunday, this picture is from Ben and my trip to Wembley in London to watch an NFL football game about a year and a half ago. It was so much fun seeing all of the American football fans, many presumably American expats living in England. Every possible team was represented in terms of the jerseys people were wearing, and it was a really fun spectacle. I haven’t heard so many American accents in the rest of my time in England put together. I felt right at home. 🙂

Food – Homemade Apple Nut Grain-ola bars – recipe to follow shortly! In the meantime, I will just say that I have actually woken up during the night twice thinking about them. I think I’m spending too much time in the kitchen lately, but these really are that good.

Bring on the weekend! Hope all of you have a great one. 🙂

These are all such great things! I love Coldplay’s new album, and I am a die-hard Harry Potter fan. Glad you enjoying the books! I’ll be looking forward to that Grain-ola bar recipe …

Thanks Jordan! I am a bit behind on Harry Potter…I can’t believe I missed out on it for so long. Better late than never I guess! And I’m still tweaking the Grain-ola bar recipe, but I will share it very soon. 🙂

Hope you are staying warm and cozy amidst the snow down in London! We are getting lots up here near Manchester.

      Enjoy your weekend!
      ~Emily~
