Wordless Wednesday – Spring Watch 2013
As usual, this post is not really wordless, but I like the excuse to use lots of photos to share what I’ve been up to.
Do you remember my snowy Wordless Wednesday post from January 30th? I thought that would be our big snowfall for the year, as in my experience living in England so far, there is generally one big snow, which may last for several days, and then it is over and everything is green again. I am not sure if it is because we are in a different city this year, but the snow has continued and continued and continued some more!
All of the pictures in this post were taken on my phone, so the quality isn’t great, but it is easier to give an accurate picture of the day to day (and sometimes minute to minute) changes.
To give you an idea of the erratic nature of the weather, I took the following pictures during the course of just one morning (in the order shown), and they don’t even begin to do justice to the number of times the weather switched back and forth that day…they were just taken at the points in the day when I had a break from work to snap a quick picture.
On the way to work:
The view out my skylight when I got to work that morning:
The view just minutes later on a higher floor of the hospital:
I was seeing patients for a couple of hours, during which time time the weather went from sunny to snow about five times, and when I had a break, it looked like this:
And ten minutes later I looked up again and saw this:
This carried on all day, and sums up the erratic nature of the weather quite well. In the two weeks since I took those photos, we have probably had about half sunny days and about half snowy days, and then over the weekend we got some serious snow…
I had thought the weather would finally switch back to normal once this snow was finished, but it carried on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, and this is what it has looked like for a large part of the day today:
Tomorrow, I am planning to show a few pictures of what the weather was like here just about exactly one year ago. I can’t believe how different it looks!
