Life Update: The Joy of Moving

April 2, 2013

I realised over the weekend that there have been several very time-consuming things going on in my life lately that I haven’t mentioned on the blog, one of which was moving.

This wasn’t a normal move, as we only moved into another building within our same development, but it has, nonetheless, taken a little while to get everything organised and put away in our new flat. Now that we are nearly there, I thought I would share a few pictures, primarily for friends and family who are far away.

I am not very good at sharing pictures of where we live because I always think that I will wait until everything is finished before I share photos. However, I finally took pictures of our last place just before we moved out because I realised that, at that point, it was as finished as it was going to get! I didn’t want that to happen again, so I took some pictures last week.

Welcome! Here is what it looks like when you walk into the front door of our flat.

New Flat

We have room for a big rug to wipe muddy feet on, a shoe rack, and then as you move forward, the bedrooms are on the left and right, a cupboard is straight ahead, and the bathroom is further down (around a sort of half corner) on the right. The living/dining room and kitchen are at the end of the hallway.

And now, for my the part where I spent a lot of my time…. the kitchen!

New Flat

I am fully aware that I am a nerd, but these are my favorite features of the kitchen…

I’m not sure what this cupboard is meant to be used for, but it is ideal for cooking oils and vinegars and sauces:

And this is what I call the breakfast station. It has all of our tea options displayed above, with the bread bin, cereal, toaster, and kettle all within reach.

New Flat Tea Shelf

I also love the shelf up above for storing jars of grains. 🙂

And although I am still getting used to the electric stove/hob, we are settling in very well and enjoying the space to spread out, and I am very happy to have a freezer now, primarily for freezing fruit to make smoothies with!

I hope everyone who was back at work today had a good first day back! For me, it was a bit of a shock when the alarm went off, but I was actually happy to be back at it.

Thanks Emily! Yes, I had always taken having a freezer for granted, but I sure appreciate it now!
